Selena Gomez, who turned 16 today, has signed her first record deal with Hollywood Records, a well-placed source exclusively tells me.
Music execs have been after the starlet for months now, ever since they got the scoop that Disney was crowning her as the next Miley Cyrus...
While Hollywood Records is part of the Disney Music Group, I'm told Gomez was courted by others because she doesn't have an exclusive deal.
In fact, just this past Saturday, she shot a music video for "Tell Me Something I Don't Know," a single from her upcoming Warner Premiere movie, Another Cinderella Story.
A source says that this was no low-rent production. It was shot in a house in Northridge, Calif., and choreography was by Hi-Hat, the dance impresario who has worked with Missy Elliott, Kanye West, Eve, Gwen Stefani, Mary J. Blige and on the movies Bring It On and Step Up 2.
This was Gomez's second video in as many weeks. She also shot one for "Fly to Your Heart," a song from Disney's upcoming animated Tinker Bell: North of Neverland.
Meanwhile, Gomez got her Sweet 16 celebration on this Sunday with a party at Hollywood hot spot Kress.
Guests included her Wizards of Waverly Place costar David Henrie; best friend and Camp Rock star Demi Lovato; Kim and Khloe Kardashian; and Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan.
A rep for Hollywood Records did not comment on the new deal.

Timbaland to 'Shock' with Beyoncé & Rihanna

It's back to the studio for Timbaland – and once again, he's inviting along some friends.

For the sequel to his 2007 hit album Shock Value, the musician-producer, 37, is bringing in heavy-hitting collaborators from across the music world, including Beyoncé, Rihanna and the Jonas Brothers.

"Right now, I have a song with Madonna that I didn't put on her album. I saved [it] in case I wanna do one for me," he told MTV News.

"Of course I'mma do one with Beyoncé. Of course I'mma do one with Jordin Sparks, Rihanna. It's a lot of people. I'mma do one with Jonas Brothers. I'mma try to have 10 major ones."

He'll also incorporate rappers into his lineup, he says. T. Pain has signed on, while T.I. and Jay-Z may also make appearances.

"Jay was really on the last one, but he wanted to change [the song]," he said. "I said, 'Look, man, I gotta put out an album. You're killing me.' "

Revised Chart Policy Lands Eagles At No. 1

The Eagles' first new studio album in 28 years, "Long Road Out of Eden," takes a short route to No. 1 on The Billboard 200 after Billboard revised a significant chart policy today (Nov. 7).

In consultation with Nielsen SoundScan, Billboard will now allow exclusive album titles that are only available through one retailer to appear on The Billboard 200 and other charts, effective with this week's charts. Prior to this, proprietary titles were not eligible to appear on most Billboard charts.

Early SoundScan numbers have the Eagles taking the top perch on The Billboard 200 with 711,000 copies sold, with most sales moved by Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores. For now, the only other U.S. outlets carrying "Eden" are walmart.com, where both physical copies and downloads are sold, and the Eagles' own Web site.

"Eden" became available at the mass-market chain Oct. 30. Aside from two compilations, this is the Eagles' first album since the mostly live "Hell Freezes Over," which led The Billboard 200 for two weeks in 1994.

Britney Spears' new Jive album, "Blackout," which would have been No. 1 had the Eagles' data not been reported, will open at No. 2 with first-week sales of 290,000 copies.

We know that some retailers will be uncomfortable with this policy, but it was inevitable that Billboard's charts would ultimately widen the parameters of to reflect changes that are unfolding in music distribution," says Geoff Mayfield, Billboard's director of charts. "We would have preferred to make this decision earlier, but only became aware within the last 24 hours that Wal-Mart would be willing to share the data for this title with Nielsen SoundScan."

The revised policy initially impacts The Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums, where "Eden" will also bow at No. 1. Criteria for the remainder of Billboard's albums charts will be formulated later this week. A handful of other titles will debut this week on The Billboard 200 as a consequence of the policy revision.

Previously, titles that were not generally available at retail were not eligible to appear on The Billboard 200, but were entitled to chart on Billboard's Top Comprehensive Albums, which includes catalog titles and proprietary albums from retailers willing to report those sales.

The comprehensive chart will continue to appear on Billboard.biz, to show how catalog titles compete with the overall market. However, once parameters for the remainder of the album charts are determined, Top Comprehensive Music Videos will be discontinued, as exclusive titles will then be eligible for the Nielsen SoundScan-fed Top Music Videos.

Now, here is the bad news regarding Nicole Scherzinger and her upcoming album, Her Name Is Nicole, which I'm sure most of you have heard about by now.

For the third time this fall, former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger's debut CD is being pushed back again, this time to 2008, confirms Interscope. Her Name is Nicole, originally slated for an Oct. 6 release, was first rescheduled for Nov. 6. Then, facing stiff chart competition from Jay-Z and Chris Brown, it was moved to Nov. 20. Scherzinger's post-Pussycat effort, which has been in the works for more than two years and features collaborations with will.i.am, Sting, Snowpatrol's Gary Lightbody, T.I., and Akon, was meant to launch Scherzinger as a solo artist on the same playing field as Interscope label-mates Gwen Stefani and Fergie. But after a lackluster response to the dance track "Whatever U Like," and with her second single, "Baby Love," nowhere near the Hot 100, insiders say Scherzinger's team is "rethinking" the roll-out while leaving an option open for more studio time.

Poll Update: Britney vs BSB

Update: So, I lost internet for a little bit, but it didn't even matter considering that Britney got 9 more votes and BSB received none. Therefore, Britney is the winner!

Just so you know: when I went to go my Britney and BSB CDs, at
FYE: Britney was in stock, BSB was sold out
Circuit City: Both were sold out
Target: There were many more BSBs than Britney, though BSB has a special Target edition with the bonus tracks (which I got!)
and on iTunes: Britney is currently at number 1 & 19 overall while the Backstreet Boys are nowhere to be found for me (if you can locate their chart number, please tell me!)

Original post: So, tomorrow (October 30th) both Britney Spears (Blackout) and the Backstreet Boys (Unbreakable) have albums coming out and because of that, the poll asking you which one you will buy will be closed when I get home from school. Rap-Up.com Exclusive: Timbaland announced that he is working on Shock Value II, the follow-up to his platinum album Shock Value. He told fans on Saturday at 102.7 KIIS FM’s Homecoming Concert in Anaheim, CA that he had already recorded tracks with Akon, Linkin Park, and Gwen Stefani.

Timbo performed several of his hits at the concert along with special guests Keri Hilson, OneRepublic, Sebastian, and D.O.E. OneRepublic will release their debut album Dreaming Out Loud on Mosley Music Group on November 20th and Keri Hilson’s In A Perfect World is set for a 2008 release.

So I thought that both Britney Spears's and the Backstreet Boy's CDs have leaked, I decided to give a quick opinion on both of them. I'll break it down like this:

My Favorite Song:
Backstreet Boys - Something That I Already Know
Notes: So, after listening to both albums for over two hours (while doing work) this one grew on me the most and I started putting it on repeat. I is such a catchy song, and although (to me) it sounds identical to Inconsolable, it is still a great pop song that will be stuck in my head all day tomorrow and probably even longer.

My Favorite Beat:
Britney Spears - Toy Soldier
Notes: I think this was a pretty obvious choice for me considering the Backstreet Boy's don't really have that many dance-type songs, though Everything But Mine is pretty close up there (and is almost my favorite song out of the two albums!)

My Favorite Album as a Whole (Excluding bonus tracks):
Britney Spears - Blackout
Notes: The only reason I chose this one is because I was able to enjoy the whole CD without wanting to skip a track or two. O nthe other hand, with BSB's CD, I felt that a couple of the songs were a little boring (for me) so I therefore picked Britney's. After a while, though, I'm sure I'll start liking BSB's album more because I am used to Britney's CD already from all of the leaked songs.

Britney's New Album Release Date Pushed Up!

Britney Spears's 'Blackout' had it's release date pushed up from November 13th to October 30th due to the leaks of the new demos that were undecided whether or not they would be on the new album. Some quotes from the article:

"The label is doing everything possible to prevent and avoid any further illegal distribution of songs including moving up the release date of the album," reads a statement from Jive.

A track list has yet to be announced, but "Blackout" is known to include the songs "Heaven on Earth," "Radar," "Piece of Me" and "Break the Ice." Among the production and songwriting collaborators are Bloodshy & Avant, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and Kara DioGuardi.

So, here is the song that I have talked about a couple of times in my blog. It came out today on iTunes in, what I would guess to be a re-release of Billy Ray Cyrus's, Home At Last and I bought it right when I saw it (mostly because his daughter, Miley Cyrus, was in it). It has been on repeat more of the day because, IMO, it is a beautiful and catchy song and I can't get enough of it, and I'm not even a fan of country music. It's going to be on the top of my top played songs list, and I suggest that if you like this song, you should most definitely buy it and support such a good song! Also, as I mentioned before, they sang Ready, Set, Don't Go live on Danicing With the Stars, and I loved that, too! Once I find the video, I will put it up. Here is the download, though. Enjoy!

Edit (10/9): The video has debuted at number 8 on TRL.
The video for Britney Spears's video, Gimme More, is to officially premiere right now (3:30 EST on MTV) on TRL. However, I don't think people are completely sure whether or not this is different from the one that was released on iTunes, which you can buy here. I'm not exactly a fan of the video on iTunes, so I'm hoping for another one to air on TRL, though, I'm pretty doubtful. I'll update this after I watch the video on TRL and once the video is uploaded on YouTube or another service, I'll put it here. You should definitely tune in, too!

(Some may make the cut, some may not) There are apparently 18 songs on this CD that have leaked, so I'm guessing more are going to be coming. They came from the same demo CD that the other leaked songs came from, and I so far love them. All of them are in .m4a format AND mp3 format. Look for the labels at the end of them. Enjoy! "Only Dancing with the Stars has the premiere duet performance of 'Ready, Set, Don't Go' by Season 4 alumnus and multiplatinum recording artist Billy Ray Cyrus and his daughter, Miley Cyrus, both stars of the hit Disney Channel series Hannah Montana. Father and daughter recently recorded the duet version of the single, which will be released to country radio stations immediately following their performance on the show. They will perform the song exclusively on Dancing with the Stars' results show on Tuesday, Oct. 9."

Blender Magazine Review: Britney Spears and Lil Wayne Hook Up

WHO: Britney Spears [ft. Lil Wayne]
WHAT: "Gimme More" (Remix)
WHY: So Britney's comeback single isn't exactly smashing the charts (it currently stands at no. 68) and, you know, there was that little performance a couple weeks back. Still, we stand by our initial praise of the song — it's sleek, sexy and surprisingly self-aware. And that was before the self-proclaimed "best rapper alive" decided to add a couple quick verses. Wayne purists may poo-poo the MC for recycling much of his guest shot from that shitty Enrique Iglesias song, but the flow is sped-up and much improved here. He's not breaking any lyrical ground ("baby, I could bless you and you ain't even sneezin'"), but there's something about Wayne rhyming over heavily syncopated, 23rd-century synth instrumentals (see: "We Takin' Over") that's hard to deny. Even so, the real star here is the beat, produced by Virginia up-and-comer (and obvious Timbaland obsessive) Max Methods. It manages to retain the future-disco feel of fellow Virginian (and Timbaland protégé) Danjahandz's original track while changing things up enough to keep it weird and exciting. Basically, this new "Gimme More" sounds like a Timbaland remix with Lil Wayne on it. We're not complaining.

"State Of Grace" - New Song from Britney's upcoming album [Review]

So here is a review on a new song from Britney's upcoming untitled album.

Ignore all those terrible Britney Spears songs wafting around the internet because the new Britney album is going to be pretty good.

We know this because we've heard an actual song from the album, and we don't mean 'Gimme More'.

Here is all we have to you about it.

» It is called 'State Of Grace' which, as much as we love her, is not something we would ever credit Britney with knowing very much about. But not to worry.

» We would describe the track as 'understated' which, again, is something we would not usually credit Britney with ever being. But by understated we do not mean 'half-arsed'. We mean 'subtle and amazing'.

» There is a bit of an Eastern influence on the track, although less so than Hilary Duff's 'Stranger', which is as good a reference point for songs that have an Indian influence as we could hope to offer.

» With a bit of rejigging it might have sounded a bit like 'With Every Heartbeat'. As it stands, it doesn't sound much like 'With Every Heartbeat' at all, but it's not a million miles away.

» The main hook is simply "love is a state of grace between you and I-e-I-e-I-e-I-e-I-e-I-e-I-e-I-e-I-e-I-e-I-e-I-e-I-e-I-e-I". Contrary to what you might have just read it doesn't sound much like 'Old MacDonald Had A Farm'.

» It is not quite a ballad but is quite floaty and very nice indeed.

» It sounds a lot like a Britney song despite sounding like no other Britney song ever recorded.

So there you go - a solid seven facts about a new Britney song

As of Monday, September 17th, at 3:27 PM EST, on Hits Daily Double, the top 3 albums this week, in order of sales number, are:

34.87% Complete
1. Kanye West - 219,396
2. Kenny Chesney - 187,137
3. 50 Cent - 159,118

Only 34.87% is complete so far, so this isn't saying too much, but it gives you an idea of what is going on. I have a feeling that Kanye will take 1st place when all of the sales are in, but that 50 Cent will make 2nd, while Chesney makes 3rd. Are you surprised with the outcome so far?
