As Disney Channel's High School Musical 2 continues to rack up ratings — in addition to the record 17.2 million who caught Friday's premiere, 8.4 mil tuned in for Saturday's rerun and 7.5 mil crooned in for Sunday's sing-along — talk continues of a feature-film adaptation of the original. Stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, though, may not be available, if only because Disney is "only offering them $1 million each," a source tells the New York Post. A studio rep responds, "We are still in negotiations with the entire cast," but declined to comment further on the talks.
UPDATE ON HSM2 DVD RELEASE:
Disney has just announced that they'll release the set on Dec. 11. This is the extended edition, running 111 minutes and including a never-before-seen music sequence, rehearsal footage and music videos. You can sing lead vocals with "High School Karaoke!"
